We welcome you to the Modern Whig Party of New York State!  Established in 1833, the Whigs are one of America's oldest mainstream political parties. We were the original party of Abraham Lincoln and four other U.S. Presidents.

For the past 150 years, the United States has been governed by a political duopoly made up of the same two parties. Today, both of these parties have been captured by their respective extremes, the culmination of a process that began in the 1960s. Big government liberals and multicultural practitioners of identity politics have taken over the Democrats, while religious conservatives allied to libertarian ideologues of dysfunctional “free markets” lord it over the Republicans.

These well organized factions wield power that is far out of proportion with their actual share of the electorate.  As a result, our political institutions are gridlocked, our economy slouches from one bubble to the next, our deficits skyrocket, and our middle class suffers. Meanwhile, powerful lobbies dedicated exclusively to the pursuit of their narrow interests line the pockets of politicians on both sides, thereby keeping the status quo in place.

American Liberalism and Conservatism are exhausted ideologies.  An incorruptible new Centrist force with a bold vision for America is needed to break the logjam and put an end to the existing duopoly.  The Modern Whig party is that force.
